My art practice begins with early morning forays into local wild places. I observe and connect to nature through photography. This meditative discipline provides source material and inspiration for my mixed media sculptures. The landscape is alive. Nature is imbued with the first cosmic life spark that binds humans physically and spiritually to the basic elements. We are made of the same stuff as the dirt underfoot and the stars in far away galaxies. I seek to bridge modern detachment from the natural world by creating sculptures that depict our connection and co-existence with all living creatures, plants and natural elements. I purposely blur the dichotomy between the human and natural world by integrating figurative forms with natural found objects. Each figurative sculpture is a narrative that reveals nature's hidden spirit to unite the spiritual and physical realms.
